Camphor

Camphor is a waxy, white or transparent substance with a strong aromatic odor, present in many plants but mainly extracted from the wood of Cinnamomum camphora (Laurus camphora), a large evergreen tree, and also from Dryobalanops aromatica (Borneo camphor), a giant essence from the forests of Borneo.

It can also be produced synthetically from turpentine oil.

It is used in cosmetics for its refreshing and soothing properties, as well as for its action against skin irritation and redness.
