Carnauba wax is a vegetable wax obtained from the leaves of a palm tree typical of Brazil (Copernicia cerifera) and comes in solid blocks of variable color from yellow to brown in relation to the degree of purity.

It is the hardest of natural waxes with a melting point above 80°C (82-87°C). It is completely insoluble in water and partially soluble in alcohol, while it dissolves in common organic solvents.

Carnauba wax is used in cosmetic preparations to modify their rheological properties, in particular to increase the viscosity of the fatty phase, to give consistency to ointments and emulsions and to give solidity to sticks.
