Mauritia Flexuosa Fruit Oil

Mauritia Flexuosa, also called Buriti, is a plant of the Arecaceae family native to the Amazon forest, similar in all respects to a large palm. Local populations, in addition to consuming its fruits, usually use the pulp of the fruit to soothe the skin, regenerate it and protect it from sunburn. Buriti oil is extracted from the fruit of the plant and owes its great emollient power to the high percentage of fatty acids of which it is composed. It is also rich in carotenoids, known for their antioxidant properties, and vitamins, in particular A and E. Buriti oil nourishes and protects the skin from aging, counteracting the harmful action of free radicals, promotes cell renewal and helps maintain the right degree of hydration, restoring the skin's natural elasticity. If used on dull skin, buriti oil gives vitality, hydration and luminosity and is excellent as a post-sun exposure regenerating treatment.
