Melia Azadirachta Seed Oil

It is a medium-development evergreen tree of the Meliaceae family native to India and Burma. This plant can live around 200 years, requires little maintenance and does well in poor soils. The leaves are lanceolate, dark green in color and with a crenate margin. The panicle inflorescences are arranged in the axillary area of the leaves and the fruits, which the plant begins to produce after its fifth year of life, are drupes with a single seed with a sweet-bitter taste. Neem oil is generally obtained by cold pressing the seeds. It is a very thick oil which tends to solidify at temperatures below 25°C, it has a dark green color and when applied to the skin it absorbs quickly.

Neem oil has antiviral, antibacterial, antiparasitic, antiseptic and antifungal properties, so much so that in India they call it "the village pharmacy". It is an excellent remedy for the most common dermatological ailments, including acne, given that its active ingredients are able to inactivate some bacteria, including the golden straphylococcus, responsible for the formation of pimples and abscesses. The application of neem oil on acne-prone skin helps drain, disinfect and heal the skin, with results in a short time. Neem oil carries out a moisturizing, regenerating and restructuring action for the tissues thanks to the presence of vitamin E and fatty acids which give it antioxidant properties which help prevent skin ageing. The benefits of this oil are also evident on animals and plants. It is in fact a natural anti-flea but also a pesticide that does not have the environmental disadvantages of those of chemical origin. As for the hair, neem oil, mixed with other oils can be used as a remedy against dandruff and to prevent hair loss, it will also help give strength and shine to brittle hair. There are also many hair products based on this oil with an antiparasitic action useful for preventing pediculosis, a problem that mainly affects children. The smell of pure neem oil can be quite pungent and be unwelcome and in cases where it is strictly necessary this problem can be solved by adding essential oils.
