Salicylic Acid

This is an automatic translation

Salicylic acid comes in the form of white crystals or crystallized powder. The molecule derives from the enzymatic hydrolysis of salicin, a salicoside glucoside extracted from willow (Salix alba). In nature, salicylic acid is found in many plants in the form of esters, especially in the leaves of wintergreen (Gaultheria procumbens). Salicylic acid is a well-known exfoliating agent used in cosmetics to prepare scrubs or peels. Its marked keratolytic and smoothing virtues make the molecule very suitable for effectively combating mild to moderate papulopustular acne. In addition to the keratolytic and smoothing properties, this acid also has interesting bacteriostatic and soothing properties: the substance, in fact, rapidly penetrates the inflamed lesions, excellently exercising these functions, without however causing irritation.
