Tocopheryl Acetate

Tocopherol acetate is the acetic ester of α-tocopherol and is a water-soluble form of tocopherol. Tocopherol acetate has an antioxidant activity lower than that of the free form as well as the effectiveness of counteracting the excess of free radicals. Once it penetrates the skin, it is converted into tocopherol. In cosmetics, tocopherol acetate is normally used in concentrations between 0.1 and 5%. Thanks to its antioxidant activity, it is included in most cosmetic formulations not only as a protective agent for the skin against the action of free radicals, but also to prevent the degradation of the other components of the formulation itself.
