Blueberry (Vaccinium myrtillus) is an angiosperm belonging to the Ericaceae family, of the genus Vaccinium. In Italy, blueberries are distributed in the woods or undergrowth of the Alps and the Apennines, where they can be found up to a height of 1500-1800 meters.

More than 130 species are known, but bilberry and cranberry are the two species most studied and used for their marked therapeutic and cosmetic properties.

The berries of blueberries are rich in tannins, which represent about 7% of the dry weight, and in flavonoids. They also contain sugars, citric, malic, succinic and hydrocinnamic acids, as well as countless vitamins of groups A, C and B: extremely effective substances for the care and beauty of our skin.

The most recognized therapeutic action of flavonoids is carried out on the connective tissue and capillaries. These in fact promotes the functionality of the microcirculation by carrying out a tonic action at the venous level and helping to maintain the elasticity of the blood vessel walls and protect the capillaries, acting on the connective tissue that surrounds the capillaries themselves. At the capillary level, the flavonoids thanks to their affinity to proteins, by binding to them increase tissue tone, preventing the loss of liquids. They protect the microcirculation from oxidative damage thanks to the content of anthocyanins and flavonoids and are thus able to break the free radical reaction chain.

Blueberry extract is also the main natural source of anthocyanin glycosides, water-soluble pigments responsible for most plant colors, with a strong antioxidant power, in fact they are important molecules for slowing down the biological phenomenon of aging. In addition, they have a soothing action on delicate skin prone to redness, improving its appearance.

For these reasons, blueberry can be used both in creams and lotions for the skin with anti-aging action, but also in cosmetic products for the body aimed at treating skin imperfections such as cellulite.

Blueberry is included in some of our products in the form of Constitutional Blueberry Water. This ingredient has marked refreshing, astringent and toning properties.

Ethical chain

Our active constitutional waters come from the high Val Varaita, in the province of Cuneo, an uncontaminated place, a jewel of alpine architecture, where man and nature find the right balance in mutual respect. The cooperative agricultural company that produces them was founded in 1985 and is a splendid combination of the ancient herbal tradition and the most advanced research into new production technologies. Dedicated to the cultivation, drying and transformation of officinal plants from organic farming, it operates according to a supply chain logic that, unique in the sector, goes from cultivation to the finished packaged product.

The herbs and officinal plants, organic, GMO-free and fresh from harvest, are dried with an innovative "open cell" system that deprives them of water but keeps the cell membrane intact and with it the active ingredients, aroma and perfume: a revolution compared to the traditional system! The open cell drying technology allows in fact to recover the water contained in the constituent tissue of the dried plant. For this reason the final product is called Constitutional or Cellular Water. Constitutional waters have a marked energetic characteristic that derives from the plant that generated them. The cell containing the liquid is in fact the vital laboratory of the plant and it contains all the "active" and "constitutional" information.

The results of the tests carried out confirmed the unique characteristics of this product which should not be confused or compared to the simple aromatic waters obtained by "washing" the distillation systems. A fundamental element for the use of these tissue waters is their stabilization and conservation. A stabilization system based on filter membranes is used that is able to control any spore-forming form present in the liquid, in order to keep the organoleptic characteristics of the product intact without adding preservatives.
